In case you failed to notice (very unlikely), today is Friday! Be sure to rush home, and spend time with your loved ones! Personally, I always enjoyed spending some quality time with my couch and comfy clothes! To each their own, I say.
Whichever way you choose to enjoy your weekend, I hope that you have a chance to check out these excellent products! Without further ado, I bring you My Weekly Top 5! Also, in case you didn’t know, you can actually click the hyperlinked product name, and it will take you to a store in which you can purchase the product.
1. Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage Foundation, 1 oz., $9.98
I have stayed far away from drugstore foundations for quite some time. I can remember using them in high school with disastrous results. Halfway through the day, I would be a patchwork of orange and look like an extra in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. There’s been a lot of hype about this product, and I decided to give drugstore foundation another chance.
Wow! Maybelline has stepped up their game! The coverage of this products is almost unbelievable. The foundation is honestly comparable to some of the Lancome or Estee Lauder bases that I use. Superstay does, in fact, stick around for a long time. It does so in a way that doesn’t feel heavy either. In the U.S., Maybelline offers this product in 16 shades. In other countries, the shade selection may be somewhat limited.
If you want a full coverage look, apply this with a foundation brush and blend around the eyes and nose using a beauty blender. For a medium-to-full coverage look, apply this with a damp beauty blender. I found that it did an excellent job of covering blemishes and imperfections. I barely used any concealer with this product! Listen, if you need a good foundation, this is a superb choice. It’s been a long time since I found a product this good for under $12. I was more than pleasantly surprised.
2. Essie Nail Polish, 0.46 fl. oz., $9 – Ladylike
Hands down, this is my go-to nail polish. The color looks good on every skin tone, light or dark. This muted mauve color makes it easy to pull off a polished and refined look. Essie is one of my favorite nail polish brands. Their polish formula goes on smoothly, and their applicator brush is easy to maneuver. I have occasionally gotten a gloopy bottle of nail polish (caused by improper sealing and not just with Essie polishes), and because of this, I buy my polish at Rite Aid since they have an excellent return policy.
For best results, I recommend using a base coat, followed by two coats of nail polish. I then seal my nail polish with a top coat.
3. AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peel, 2.5 oz. $60
If you’re looking for a product that will make your skin glow, look no further! Every time I use this product, people comment on how radiant my skin looks and ask what I’ve done differently. I want to mention how neat the packaging is. When you open the product and pour it into your hand, it precisely measures the amount needed for one use. That’s important since this product isn’t exactly cheap.
The peel is undoubtedly worth the money, though. While the product is intended to be used as part of a daily regimen, I only use it about twice a week. One bottle has lasted about a year for me. I would particularly recommend this to individuals with sensitive or mature skin. It exfoliates gently and without any unnecessary tugging or scrubbing. The product does have a slight fragrance that dissipates quickly.
To apply, pour the premeasured amount of product into damp hands after cleansing face. Rub hands together to create a creamy lather. Massage into the face for about 45 seconds and rinse. Enjoy your glow!
3. Linhart Toothpaste, 3.5 oz., $10.00
Not only does this toothpaste look cool, but it is cool! Linhart Toothpaste was created by two dentists dedicated to protecting your whole mouth. I’ve been using this product for around a month, so far. Since I’ve been using it, my teeth have genuinely felt protected. It’s hard to explain, but it’s almost as if my teeth feel sealed off from damage!
The toothpaste is created with aloe vera and Linamel. Linamel is a trademark of Linhart and combines three ingredients, Theobromine, Flouride, and Xylitol. Each component has a specific purpose.
Theobromine is an extract of the cocoa plant that plays an essential role in strengthening teeth enamel. Flouride remineralizes and protects teeth from acid breakdown. Xylitol is a natural sugar that prevents tooth decay by neutralizing the PH levels in the mouth. Most exciting to me is the use of aloe vera in the toothpaste! The aloe vera is used to soothe and heal gums. I definitely have found my new favorite toothpaste!
P.S. Anytime you change toothpaste, it takes about four days to get used to a different taste.
5. Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream, 1.7 oz., $48
Tiger Grass is my absolute favorite product of the Top 5. I use this cream twice a day. If I could, I would probably slather my body in it! I have never found a product that works so well for my sensitive skin! I’ll admit, that when I first tried it, I was hesitant. I was worried that it could contain grass (that I was undoubtedly allergic to). This was not the case!
The story behind this cream is that after a battle, Asiatic Tigers would roll in Centella Asiatica (the main ingredient in this product) to heal their battle wounds. Centella Asiatica, more commonly known as Gotu Kola, has been used for centuries in the treatment of wound healing, trauma, and circulation problems. Since acne is a type of wound, and circulation problems usually cause skin sensitivity (including rosacea), this product is a great solution.
As some of you know, I have rosacea and sensitive skin. When I use this, my face doesn’t get hot or red. In fact, in over a two month period, my face has only become red twice. Both of these incidents were caused by me sitting directly in front of a fireplace. Even better, this makes blemishes disappear! I also occasionally experience contact dermatitis, which is very itchy. I tried applying this to the affected area, and the itching stopped instantly! Just that is worth my money!
If you experience sensitivity, occasional acne, or rosacea, you should RUN and buy this product! As more people have discovered the product, it has been harder to find. I actually had to drive to a Sephora store to locate a tube of Tiger Grass Cream. So worth it!
To apply, I massage a small amount of tiger grass into my face after cleansing. Apply moisturizer as normal. If you have oily or combination skin, this cream may be used by itself as a moisturizer.
That concludes this week’s Top 5. I hope you enjoyed the post but most of all, I hope you try these products. You’re going to love them!
